The Rheinische Landesmuseum Trier is mainly devoted to the archaeological legacy of the Romans, who settled along the Rhine in imperial times. This trough-shaped washbasin manufactured of exposed concrete by material raum form has found a permanent place in the media room of the museum. It weighs half a ton and measures more than two metres in length. Its shape and marble-like look are reminiscent of ancient basins of wells, often originally used as sarcophagi in Roman times, which still today add to the unique atmosphere of Rome.
